A SPRING IN OUR STEP!

Finally, it's almost spring -- in just a few weeks the vernal equinox will shift the balance in favour of longer days, milder weather, greener prospects. We can hardly wait.

Fortunately, the new fabrics that are arriving almost daily reflect this much-awaited change of season: the colours are bright and fresh, patterns are cheerful, and the mood is lively. If you're in a bit of an end-of-winter slump, come on in and check them out. We promise they'll put a spring in your step!

As always, thanks for your support. We hope to see you soon!

Leslie, Val, and all the staff at Quilty Pleasures

PS: QP IS FOR THE BIRDS!

We're real bird-brains these days – seems like everywhere you look, we have bird fabrics, bird patterns, and bird accessories. If you need any further proof that spring is just around the corner, come in and check out our fine feathered friends.
PLEASE RETURN OUR BROOCH!

On or about Saturday, February 27, the jewelled butterfly brooch was stolen from our Circle Bag sample. While not made of real jewels, it is a vintage piece that does have sentimental value (it belonged to Val's mother) and we would like to have it back. If you know anything about this incident, or the whereabouts of the brooch, please let us know. If you have the brooch in your possession, we would appreciate its return – no questions asked. Thank you.

FLOOR MODEL SALE!

It's time to tidy up around here, so all of our floor models are priced to clear! This includes ALL Pfaff and Janome sewing machines and sergers, as well as our QBots (we have two, priced at an incredible $2400 each!). Come in early to get the best selection!

IT WAS A DARK AND STORMY NIGHT!

Do you have a quilt-related story to tell? If so, Donna Marrin wants to hear from you! We'll let Donna explain it:

"Who doesn't love a good quilting story? I sure do – and that's why I am in the process of developing a book filled with quilt stories that represent the different voices of quilters ... . As a quilting enthusiast and closet stash-collector, as well as a professional writer, I've been bitten by a "need bug": a need to know more about the many other quilters around me, and a need to introduce us all to each other through the stories we have to tell. (And, yes, every person does have a story to tell.) Our stories are our voices, and through them, we can connect with each other, no matter the distance that separates us."

"What are my requirements? I am looking for stories that are happy, sad, hilarious, or just plain entertaining. Your story can be about you, a quilt you made for yourself or a family menmber or a friend, your stash, your quilt guild, a quilting event you attended – just as long as the theme remains centred on quilting. You can write a couple of paragraphs, or you can write a few pages. You can send your story to me via email [donna.marrin@staples.ca] or through regular mail [Donna M. Marrin, 8 Fry Court, Markham ON L3P 4G9]."

Donna has also provided us with a list of "interview questions" so that she can get to know Canada's quilters better and include them in the book. If you would be interested in participating, we have posted the questionnaire on our bulletin board. Donna would love to hear from you.

PFAFF GRANDQUILTER 18.8

You may have noticed the enormous quilting frame and industrial quilting machine sitting in our basement. Let us take this opportunity to introduce you to the PFAFF GrandQuilter 18.8! It's huge, with a full 18" to the right of the needle and 8" of height in the throat area, and it has a built-in stitch regulator quilting those large quilts is now easier than ever! If you're interested in trying it out, we're making the machine available on an hourly rental basis. We also have a special class, Introduction to Longarm Quilting, that will demystify the whole process. Just talk to any staff member and we'll explain how this works.

Here's a sample of the quilting done by Joan and Elaine, our first guest quilters, on the 18.8. On the left you see a closeup of the front.
The back is on the right. They did a great job, and so can you!

CLASS SCHEDULE

The complete winter class schedule is available at the store and on our classes page. We have several new classes and a few new teachers, so be sure to check the schedule to see what's what.

BOOKS PAGE

We try to bring in the best of the new quilting books as soon as they are available, and then we tell you about them in our newsletters. But with so many new books coming on the market, it's easy to lose track of all the new releases. To keep everyone's libraries in tip-top shape, we've added a Books page to our web site (thanks, Cary!). All of our archived reviews are listed there, along with pictures of the book covers, so you can review what we reviewed at any time. And remember, even if a book is not currently in stock, we are more than happy to order it for you. Out of stock does not mean out of reach!
